Breathable doesn't mean airy. Here's the difference.

All boxers claim to be 'breathable'. Yet heat returns quickly when fabric traps moisture or sits flat against the skin. The problem is not fabric alone: it is the whole system of fibre, construction, space and moisture evacuation.

Science of breathability

The intimate microclimate: an underestimated problem.

01Skin breathes

The intimate region has a high density of sweat glands. Without evaporation, moisture builds up and creates discomfort, heat and friction.

02Cotton traps

Cotton absorbs 7% of its weight in water. A good property... except it holds it. Result: stagnant moisture, heaviness, increased friction.

03Micromodal wicks

50% more absorbent than cotton, micromodal wicks moisture to the outside of the fibre. Skin stays drier, longer.

04Mesh creates space

Strategic polyamide mesh zones create natural air channels. Space matters as much as fabric for thermoregulation.

Tips

How to check if your boxer is really breathable.

Breath test

Hold the fabric in front of your mouth and blow. If you clearly feel air passing, the fabric is permeable. Thick cotton blocks almost everything.

Moisture test

Wear it for 4 hours straight. If the fabric becomes heavy and damp, it retains perspiration. A good technical fabric stays light.

Volume test

A boxer that is too compressed prevents air from circulating. Check that there is space between the body and the fabric, especially at the front.

Wash test

After 10 washes, a bad fabric becomes stiff and loses breathability. Micromodal retains its softness and porous structure.
